Tarrafal

The 80km trip from Praia along the central road takes two hours and allugueresleave all day.  I left at 8:00 AM and switched in Assomada and picked up women with their market produce to take up the road.  It had started raining, and umbrellas came out on the streets.  I could have worn a sweater!

This family of three children and parents were standing on the side of the road waiting for transportation in the rain, and when she sat down next to me, she kept rubbing her very cold little hands on my warm arm!

This is where the women took their bags of corn, and fruits to the market place.
