Arrival Day 9:28 AM Saturday, March 10,2012 Doctrine & Convenants 4:2 "Therefore, O ye embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day". What a humbling experience this is going to be for me--to be a representative for the Lord. Was met by Elder & Sister Adams from Odgen, Utah who would be leaving on Tuesday. I would be her replacement. They were so kind to have three days with me to orientate me to the stores, banks, pharmacy,etc. and we were give our testimonies on Sunday. The Youth had given them a nice going away party, but I was too tired to attend.
Alma 32:1-2 "And it came to pass that they did go forth, and began to preach the word of God unto the people, entering into their synagogues, and into their houses;yea, and even they did preach the word in their streets. And it came to pass that after much labor among them, they began to have success among the poor class of people; for behold, ..Yannick Oliveira is one preparing to go on a mission.
Alma 32:16 "Therefore, blewssed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble; or rather, in other words, blessed is he that believeth in the word of God, and is baptized without stubbornness of heart, yea, without being brought to know the word, or even compelled to know, before they will believe. " We gave our testimonies in the Branch which was split. Elder Adams said last year at this time, there were 279 baptized & this year is 790!
Doctrine & Convenants 59:10 "For verily this is a day appointed unto you to rest from your labors, and to pay thy devotions unto the Most High." After all the goodbys for the Adams, we had dinner , then attended Single Family Home Evening at 4:30, then the Youth had choir practice from 7:00 -8:30. I believe the church has made a film about this choir and interviewed Richardo at home and his work testifying about the growth of the Church here in Cabo Verde.
